Summer School 2010

For one week in July, fifteen students from London schools and colleges attended a one week summer school at LondonMet. They worked together in groups to create a virtual University on one of our islands in Second Life.

Most students had no previous knowledge of Second Life and very few had any experience of building in 3D. They very quickly grasped the fundamental of building in Sl and by the fourth day some were already learning to program in Second Life using LSL (Linden Scripting Language.

The students were split into three loose groups. One group built on the ground.

Another group built on and under the water.

The third group built a rather large University in the air.

The project was funded by WEP and we are hoping to host a similar event in the summer of 2011.
